Hats Off to Brett Davis, Gary Burkholder, Matt Litzler, John Bodel, and all the Cleveland cyclists who pushed and raised money and hosted meetings to make the track a reality.
It's the first and only velodrome in Ohio, and one of just 27 in the US.
Hats off to design/builder Dale Hughes--who has worked to advance track cycling all his adult life, including his 1982 venture in Cleveland, a velodrome with racing at public hall during the Bike America convention. Dale was on-site in Slavic village working and organizing volunteers.
Hats off to councilman Tony Brancatelli, who supported the effort even though it's not quite in his ward.
The Cleveland velodrome is truly a great thing--as the councilman said, not just for the neighborhood or the city of Cleveland or Cuyahoga County, but a great thing for the state of Ohio.
